The classroom basic course at IVM lasts two days, during which you practice both theory and practical skills extensively. The online course consists of e-learning that you can follow at your own pace (on average about 5 hours). After successfully completing the online theory, you attend one practical day from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm to apply the skills in practice. This way, you can learn flexibly and still practice thoroughly.
After successfully completing the course, you will receive a BHV certificate that is valid for one year. This certificate proves that you have the necessary knowledge and skills to act effectively during incidents.
The basic course is suitable for newcomers who want to start as emergency responders (ERO) and for those who want to refresh their knowledge after a longer period (more than 2 years). It is intended for employees involved in workplace safety (so, almost everyone!), regardless of the sector.
The course consists of two main parts:
Fire, communication & evacuation (bco)
Here you learn how to extinguish a starting fire, communicate effectively, and organize a safe evacuation.
Life-saving first aid (leh)
Here you practice CPR, the use of an AED, and other life-saving actions.
Prefer to learn at your own pace, whenever and wherever it suits you? Choose IVM’s online ERO basic course. You'll complete the theory through e-learning at your convenience, then apply your knowledge during a practical day with realistic exercises. The e-learning covers topics such as fire safety, first aid, evacuation, communication, and correct response during incidents. This online course is perfect for those looking to save time, avoid travel, and still stay fully up to date. You'll get to practice your skills in lifelike situations.
